Pada Yatra: Foot Pilgrimage from Jaffna to Kataragama

Each year Hindu devotees from the north and east walk to Kataragama for the Esala festival, honouring the deity known as Lord Murugan, Skanda or Kataragama Deviyo.
The 2024 pilgrimage led into the 15-day festival held in July, which draws Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims alike.
