From the outset, Janaka confronted the harsh realities of his job: long hours, frequent challenges, and the frustration of waiting days at the airport for tourists. The company’s practice of favoring drivers known personally to management meant many like Janaka struggled for opportunities. His sense of fairness often prompted him to question these practices. However, his defiance led to an unexpected ordeal: while assisting a customer at the airport, he was unjustly arrested by security on charges of idleness, accompanied by a nominal fine of $8.

Realizing this incident was a deliberate ploy by his employer, Janaka took a courageous step. With his deepened understanding of tourism and a commitment to exceptional service, he chose to leave his job. This pivotal moment marked a turning point in his career. Driven by a passion to revolutionize tourism experiences, Janaka founded Show Lanka Tours on December 3, 2002.
